DENVER - Denver Public Schools (DPS), in collaboration with the Council of Great City Schools (CGCS) and the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), will be hosting the first Denver Summit on Generative AI in Education. The summit, designed for regional K-12 Superintendents, Chief Information Officers and Chief Academic Officers, will be held at the Emily Griffith Campus, 1860 Lincoln Street, on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. This year’s theme is The Curious World of Generative AI: Risks and Possibilities. The same session will be offered in the morning and afternoon.

The summit comes after CGCS and CoSN announced the creation of the Generative AI Readiness Checklist in October 2023. The checklist is designed for K-12 school districts to explore several key factors before implementing generative AI. Dr. Richard Charles, the Chief Information Officer for DPS, was part of the team that created the checklist.

In addition to hosting the readiness summit, Denver Public Schools will be implementing a cross-functional committee on AI Readiness this spring. This group will take a deep dive into what DPS needs to do to be ready to implement artificial intelligence across the district.

We invite you to attend portions of the summit to learn about the new direction in K-12 education and to speak with Dr. Charles and other industry leaders about how AI will help school districts in Colorado.
