Dear DPS Families and Community Members,

DPS 101 is an in-person, nine-part leadership course that is open to all DPS community members, including parents and DPS community members. The course offers transparent insights into DPS structures, systems and leadership. Participants explore past and present DPS events, providing collaborative learning opportunities that foster curiosity and civic responsibility.

Through this course, participants will:

  1. Be empowered to identify roles and contribute to the DPS Strategic Roadmap.

  2. Cultivate collaboration and belonging through cohort-based learning experiences.

  3. Gain a deeper understanding of DPS department functions.

  4. Develop a sense of belonging.

The course consists of nine meetings from 5:15-7:30 p.m. at the Emily Griffith Campus located at 1860 Lincoln St., Denver, CO 80203. Meetings occur on a monthly basis and are scheduled for Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. 4, Jan. 8, Feb. 5, March 12, April 2 and May 7.

Any DPS community member is welcome and encouraged to apply, whether you have a child/adolescent learning in DPS, or work with or for DPS! The application is available here and closes Aug. 19. We will select 20-25 cohort members from the application pool and selected individuals will be notified by Aug. 23.

Read this testimonial from a member of the 2023-24 cohort:

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to have participated in DPS 101. For me, this course brought a new light and understanding to the hard working individuals that lead each DPS department every day. I was especially inspired by the journey of leadership that was shared by Trena Marsal, Chief of Operations. She has inspired me to continue to address life head on, to keep my head high, and to continue to do what's right by my own morals, high standards, and work ethic. DPS 101 helped me pinpoint when I first considered myself a leader in my own leadership journey, and to reflect on the type of leader I have chosen to be over the years. This program truly brings out the personal side of DPS, and helps people to relate as humans first, and as stakeholders of DPS on a more personal level. I highly recommend this course and look forward to participating in DPS 201.” – Rose Martinez, DPS Parent and DPS 101 Cohort Member
