Dear Team DPS/DPS Community,
The 2024-25 school year is here! We are excited for a great year ahead, and in that spirit, want to ensure we are setting our community up for success with important information, changes and contacts.
DPS Moved to a New Messaging Platform
Denver Public Schools has switched to a new messaging platform. District text messages will now come from 98900. Phone calls will come from 720-423-3000 or your school's front office phone number. Emails will come from a DPSK12.org email address.
Our Focus on Attendance
We are working hard to make every school building a place where students want to be. Our collective goal is that every student arrives to class on time and remains in class for the full day, every day. Every absence, even excused, makes it more difficult for students – and their peers – to succeed, no matter what grade they are in. When absences add up, even in elementary years, it becomes harder to graduate.
Access the 2024-25 school year calendar to plan appointments and vacations around important days to ensure your child does not miss valuable learning time.
The return to school also means the return of germs. Click here for guidance on when to keep your child home and when to send them to school.
Early-Release Heat Days
During late summer, schools may face extreme heat in some buildings, particularly those with limited or no air conditioning. To prioritize the safety and well-being of students and staff, DPS may implement Early-Release Heat Days if indoor temperatures become unsafe in schools without air conditioning. In such cases, the decision will be communicated by 5 p.m. the day prior, with notices posted online and through email and robo-calls. On Early-Release Heat Days, modified bus routes will be provided, but parents can choose to pick up their children directly from school at the designated release time. If you have questions about Early-Release Heat Days, contact your school.
