Understanding Giftedness Sessions
Understanding Giftedness Session Descriptions
As a part of Morey’s personalized learning, we are offering interactive sessions about giftedness to 6th graders this spring. The overarching theme is “Understanding Giftedness”. Many of our gifted students do not understand how and why they are considered gifted and what this means for their lives. Although the term “gifted” can carry with it elitist and loaded connotations, we do not want to avoid these discussions to the detriment of our children. We want them to know their rights, but also to understand their complex selves. We believe this series of sessions will help our students more effectively communicate their learner preferences and learning goals. To wrap up this series, students will learn how to respectfully advocate for their social, emotional and academic needs.
